St Edmund's Pilgrimage - Bus and Walk Bury St Edmunds-Thetford-Brandon

A one-day pilgrimage walk of around 9 miles from Thetford to St Helen’s Holy Well, and on to Brandon, using local buses to and from Bury St Edmunds. There is plenty to see and experience along the way. Most of the walking is along forest paths, but stout footwear is recommended along with a sunhat if it is sunny. Bring plenty to drink and enough food as there no shops between Thetford and Brandon. This route forms part of the London-Walsingham Camino, and pilgrims may wish to extend it in either direction at their own discretion.
Meet at the main entrance to depart from the Cathedral at 9.30 am, or Stand 2 of Bury St Edmunds Bus Station at 9.45 am. (Morning prayer at 8.30 am in the Edmund Chapel at St Edmundsbury Cathedral optional). Another option is to walk from Bury St Edmunds to Thetford the day before, joining the main group at 10.30 am outside the entrance to The Priory. The walking will be slow to spend awhile taking it all in and can be followed on the OS map Landranger 144.
We finish walking in Brandon, and then get the bus back to Bury St Edmunds (approx 16.30/17.00). There is an option to attend Evensong at 17.30 at St Edmundsbury Cathedral.
