Some routes have their own individual passport schemes - check the links in the route entry to see if there is already a bespoke passport for your journey. Passports for pilgrimage in Britain are also available from the Association of English Cathedrals, The Confraternity of St James, the Confraternity of Pilgrims to Rome, Pilgrim Ways and others. If you are planning to do 25km in Britain to add to your Camino Ingles, we recommend using their credencial to record your journey rather than any other passport.

FAQ

Do I have to have a passport to be a pilgrim? No, but many pilgrims like to use them as part of the pilgrim tradition. Medieval pilgrims were issued documents to prove they had permission to travel, were making a legitimate journey, or sometimes to guarantee their safety crossing into different territories. These days some routes require pilgrims to use passports to access services, but mostly people use them as a keepsake and to lend legitimacy to their pilgrimage.

Where can I find stamps? All sorts of places. Every cathedral in Britain has a stamp, and many parish churches along routes offer them too. You might find a pub, hostel, cafe or visitor attraction like English Heritage sites have them too, or a sticker they can give you instead.

Which routes can I use this on? Any route you like, even one you have created for yourself. Some routes have their own passport schemes, but the majority don't. Check the full information and links on your chosen route's listing to see if it has its own passport.

What if I can't find a stamp? If you have stopped somewhere that doesn't offer a stamp, or if it is missing, you can: find someone to sign it for you; draw a little picture; press a flower or leaf, take a leaflet and stick the logo in, take a rubbing from a carving or textured surface nearby.
