Temple Bruer Preceptory is one of the few Knights Templar sites remaining in England

Temple Bruer was held by the Hospitallers until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in around 1540, when Henry VIII granted it to the Duke of Suffolk. The following year, the King and his wife Katherine Howard stayed there on their way to Lincolnshire.

Temple Bruer was founded late in the reign of Henry II, with a list of notable benefactors.

The ruin consists of the intact square south tower of the temple church, one of two added to the original structure during the Templars' tenure, north and south of the chancel or presbytery. The preceptory tower, formerly looked after by Heritage Lincolnshire, is currently in the care of Lincolnshire County Council.

As a surviving tower, it is open to the public, though you are likely to need permission to visit set up in advance.
